ServicesIndustry Challenges

High growth rates, strong competition, and stringent regulations – anyone hoping to thrive in the food, beverage, and packaging industry market must offer high product quality and satisfy technical and hygiene requirements in the production process.

Demanding environment for components, systems, and operators

The factors giving rise to challenges in the food, beverage, and packaging industry are hygiene, system quality, and the market environment. Plant operators must satisfy stringent regulations and ensure the foodstuffs they produce are safe. Constant innovation in the market environment also creates the need for continuous system optimization

Molyslip® FOODSLIP is NSF registered for incidental food contact

FeaturesLubricants for the Food, Beverage, and Packaging Industry

NSF registered, Food-grade anti-seize

Molyslip® FOODSLIP is a premium-performance, food-grade anti-seize compound formulated to protect fasteners from seizure-induced by temperature, pressure, and corrosion. The high purity base fluid contains micronized high load white solids, including PTFE, to provide excellent lubrication and protection to threads and components operating in areas where there is a possibility of incidental food contact.

Molyslip® FOODSLIP is resistant to temperatures up to 340°C and the tenacious film is extremely resistant to water, brine, steam and aqueous cleaners. FOODSLIP provides excellent protection against chemical corrosion (both acid and alkali) and atmospheric oxidation. FOODSLIP is suitable for use on studs, nuts, bolts and other threaded connections on components that need to be dismantled. Use on stainless steel, aluminium, copper, iron, galvanized steel, brass and PVC pipes, tubes and connections.

FAQIndustry Challenges

New and future-oriented technologies are needed to effectively
counter climate change. The challenge lies in improving the energy
efficiency of production facilities. This is because machines and
systems in food and beverage production generally run 24 hours per
day, seven days a week. If the production process doesn’t run
optimally, this can result in high emissions and costs throughout
the year.
Greater energy efficiency with automated condition monitoring

The relevant regulations for the food production industry are specified in the EU hygiene law. The EU regulation (EC) no. 852/2004 on food hygiene is particularly important. The Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture is responsible for ensuring that these regulations are implemented in German law. Separate regulations apply to food or beverages of animal origin, such as dairy products like yogurt. It is not easy to keep up to date with these challenging regulations at all times, but it is nonetheless essential. If there are any objections during food safety inspections at the company, this can lead to high production losses and lasting damage to the company’s reputation.

Before machines stop unexpectedly, they may have produced food that doesn’t meet the quality requirements and therefore can’t be sold. This is why machine failure should always be avoided.

Maintenance tasks which generally also lead to a production stop should be as infrequent as possible. Unplanned downtimes can be reduced through intelligent solutions. Condition monitoring tools such as OPTIME permanently record the machines’ condition and detect errors before they lead to a production stop. Lubrication condition monitoring, for example with DuraSense, also increases system availability and lowers the cost of process materials.

Managing Resources Intelligently for Less Downtimes
Maintenance reduces the OEE: You can counteract this with intelligent resource management. Machines and systems with high-quality components require less maintenance. That is why you should look for resilient materials such as stainless steel and rely on application-specific coating solutions. This ensures that the rolling bearings are resistant to moisture, contaminated water, salt spray, and slightly alkaline as well as slightly acidic cleaning agents. This application-specific design reduces the maintenance effort and extends the service life.

The effectiveness of the production and thus the profit can be increased with an intelligent analysis of the costs. One of the tools for this is process cost calculation. Here the respective process is divided into many sub-processes. The overhead costs are allocated to the individual sub-processes as much as possible. This makes it possible to distribute the overhead costs according to the originators instead of calculating with fixed overhead rates. The result: It is easier for you to identify which production processes are economical and which ones you should optimize. Schaeffler’s bearing solutions and smart products all have a part to play here, by saving working materials such as lubricants through optimum sealing design, and intelligent lifetime solutions for monitoring the lubrication condition and relubrication as required.
