1.  What is an application?

Answer:

An application can be: motor, pump, ventilator, gear box, change gear, main shaft, etc.

2.  What is the link between bearing clearance and functioning temperature?

Answer:

For maximum functioning temperature of up to 70˚ Celsius degrees, the normal internal bearing, radial or axial clearance is sufficient. Radial bearing clearance/ radial clearance of an unmounted bearing signifies the clearance (distance) between the raceway and rolling bodies, measured in a normal plane on bearings symmetry axis. Axial clearance represents the amount of total dislocation of a ring from an extreme position to another, on axial direction, while the other ring stays fixed, and the rings are coaxial.

In the event the functioning temperature may reach values up to 150˚ Celsius degrees a higher than normal radial clearance must be used, symbolized by C3 and dimensional stabilization, S0 suffix.

For higher temperatures, up to 200˚ Celsius degrees, dimensional stabilization treatment has the suffix S1, up to 250˚ Celsius degrees the suffix is S2, up to 300˚ Celsius degrees the suffix is S3, up to 350˚ Celsius degrees the suffix is S4. Radial clearance may be higher than C3, symbolized by C4 or higher than C4 symbolized by C5.

All the FAG bearings have the external diameter higher than 240mm and are dimensionally stabilized by standard design, for temperatures up to 200˚ Celsius degrees.

Bearings with the retainer made of reinforced polyamide with fiber glass, hard plastic or plastic materials cannot function on temperatures higher than 120˚ Celsius degrees.

Sealed bearings, 2RS suffix, LLU, 2RSR, C2HRS cannot function on temperatures higher than 110˚ Celsius degrees.

3.  How can working environment influence the bearing type used?

Answer:

For a less aggressive working environment, applications that function in closed environments, with no dust or any other atmospheric impurities, there can be used sealed bearings without contact, protected with metal shields on both sides of the bearing, suffixes: 2Z, 2ZR, ZZ.

For aggressive working environments, applications that function in open spaces or come in contact with dust or fine impurities, humidity, water, etc., it is recommended to use sealed bearings, with contact, by using sheet-metal bonnets vulcanized with NBR rubber on both frontal sited of the bearing. Used suffixes are: 2RS, 2RSR, LLU, C2HRS.
